I absolutely love a stumpery – they tend to be planted with shady plants, in woody corners, so it’s unusual to see them with lupins and euphoria which both like a free-draining soil. Very inspiring!
Yes that’s true. In fact there’s a bit of a gravel garden feel, isn’t there? Well spotted Scoular!
I saw my first stumpery on a visit to Highgrove House earlier this month. I find them quite whimsical and fully expect to see a fairy or goblin hiding within the shadows. I found your blog via Pinterest and will happily spend time visiting again.
Hi Kate – The stumpery at Highgrove is the best of them all! It’s an amazing garden, isn’t it. Thanks for visiting the blog : )
